The museum committee were delighted to get a visit from 5 members of Portlaw Heritage Centre last Wednesday night (10th February). It was great to meet such dedicated individuals working to preserve the history of their locality. The meeting arose as a result of an initiative to get the various groups involved in historical research in Co. Waterford working together. While this initiative is still in the very early stages, based on our meeting last week, I am reasonably certain that good things will come from it in time.
In a nutshell the plan is that groups should share skills, knowledge, exhibitions and materials. It is hoped that each group would also assist in promoting the work, lectures and exhibitions of other groups in their locality. Hopefully in the coming months we will see this partnership with Portlaw come to fruition and other groups around County Waterford may get involved.
