Up until now the Irish festival was hosted by the Counties Waterford, Wexford and Kilkenny. This year the festival has been opened up to the Island of Ireland. Due to this change local committees are needed to organise events and attractions in their area for the festival. A meeting was held recently in Merry's Pub to organise a local committee, which was attended by our President Níoclas ó Griofáin.
Níoclas travelled to Newfoundland in 2009 with a local group, and Waterford County Museum hopes to hold an event to coincide with the visit of the group to Dungarvan in September.
