Scoil Baile Mhic Airt Visits Museum
On Tuesday 11th February the primary school pupils from Scoil Baile Mhic Airt, An Rinn, visited the Museum with their teacher Liam Ó'Lonáin. The pupils showed great interest in the tour and also filled out their school's question and answer sheet by checking the information boards displayed in the Museum.
Glimpses of a Sea Faring Family's History, The Curran Family
A very enjoyable night was had by the large crowd who attended the lecture last Thursday night. Presented by Desmond Walsh who is a grandson of James Curran, Quay House, now the Moorings.

An illustrated talk by Desmond Walsh titled "Glimpses of a Seafaring family's History" (The Curran Family The Quay House, Dungarvan).
Desmond Walsh is a grandson of the late James Curran (last harbour master) and a direct descendent of the Currans of the Quay House-a prominent Victorian Ship owning and Merchant family whose ships plied between Dungarvan, the UK, North and South America for about 100 years between 1820 and 1920.
Have you ever wondered about the size of these ships and the cargoes - pit props, fruit, coal, guns, felons/patriots, how many crew were required, what wages were paid, what voyages were undertaken. To get the answers to these questions mark this event in your diary.

The museum is planning an exhibition of the photographers of well known Dungarvan photographer Rory Wyley. If you have a photograph taken by Rory, particularly ones dating from the 1960s and early 1970s, we would love to hear from you.

We were delighted to receive a donation of a large proof auto type print of The Curraghmore Hunt 1877. The print is taken from a painting by William Osborne (1823-1901) RHA, father of the artist Walter Frederick Osborne. Fifty nine people are shown on horseback including - the Marquis of Waterford, Duke of Connaught, Richard Power M.P., Earl of Bessborough, Miss Villiers Stuart, etc. In the background is Curraghmore House, Portlaw.
