John R. Dower was the owner of St Brigid's Well Brewery in Dungarvan. The brewery was established in the late 18th century on land owned by the
Marquis of Waterford. Their 'Shamrock
Ale' was very popular.
John R Dower was
also a magistrate, Town Commissioner and built Mountain View House.
