14th Dec 2014 Children's Christmas Event

On Saturday 14th December we held a workshop for children in the Museum. The children enjoyed making Christmas cards with Waterford  festive scenes from years gone by and they also made their own cup and ball or Kik Noks as they are called.  A special thank you to all the children and their parents who came out in such bad weather.

Many thanks to Helen and Darren |Moynihan who organised the event.

Women in the Era of the American Civil War (1861-65) An Irish Angle

An Illustrated Presenttion by Aidan O'Hara

The title alone of Aidan's forthcoming illustrated talk is sure to generate a great deal of interest, and the many visuals he uses will be of as much interest as the talk itself. The best diarists in the South were women, and Aidan's particular interest is in what they had to say about the Irish -old long-settled Planter Irish, and the newly arrived poorer Famine immigrants.
There were the 400 women who pretended to be men so that they could fight for their respective sides.

Venue: Town Hall Theatre, Dungarvan

Date: Wednesday 22nd January

Time: 8pm
